A high quality monotype print titled “Artists at Court” from an unidentifiable “Wilson” French artist, c. Later 19th century, from regarded Newman Galleries, Philadelphia. The scene shows what the title describes, several well-dressed artisans or nobles – six males and five females – lounging inside an ornately decorated, Rococo ballroom palace setting. Many sections accent around the scene, e. Hair, clothing trim, flowers, decor, have overpaint touch ups, adding a nice highlighted touch to the visual appearance. An excellently chosen frame is hand carved with floral decoration, grooves, and beads around an interior section of maroon felt. A plaque attached to said felt reads “Artists at Court, -Wilson-“. Piece measures 30″ Long x 25 1/2″ Wide x 1 7/8 Thick. View measures 20 1/2″ L x 16 1/2″ W. Minor damage to the interior artwork; a tiny section of creasing/bunching shows in the piece’s top right corner and a few tiny speck-sized spots of paint show underneath the glass front. Some unusual type of lines show in no more than three places (believed to be glass cracks on the interior side) but are difficult to notice from any distance. Damage to the frame; nicks and dings around the edges and darkening to the gilded coating. Rub-wear shows on the front plaque but the text is still legible.
