Neither of my daughters is a doll person, nor do I have anyone else with which to leave them, so their loss may be your gain, should your doll interests coincide with mine. This little mite is an artist inspired French Fashion Doll. This tiny lady is 13 inches tall with a socket head and breastplate and bisque arms and legs. Her bisque is flawless, with no marks or chips that I can see. She is on a firmly stuffed cloth body. The doll has beautiful dark brown glass eyes which are perfectly matched by her mohair wig of dark brown curls. Her ensemble, from dress to underwear is all antique, and I was thrilled to snag it. The apricot colored dress is made of a silk like material with a waistline that poufs out to a bell of a skirt which is flounced at a false hemline which is trimmed in tiny lace, but scalloped every inch or so, where a thin black velvet bow is tied. Here, the real hem of the dress shows through at the bottom of the dress, just a plain straight line. The puffed sleeves end at the elbows in lace trim. Around what would seem to be a plain neckline is a lace trimmed fichu, the ends of which trail becomingly down the front of the gown. Don’t miss the daring pearl necklace at her throat or those dangling black pearl earrings!! Beneath the dress is a cream satin slip over a crinoline. A matching pair of cream satin pantalettes complete to ensemble. This would be a great doll with which to introduce oneself to the joys of French Fashion Doll collecting, or collecting antique doll clothing or just collecting small dolls. These are easy, they don’t take up much room, and in a Zombie Apocalypse, they fit easily into a tote bag, so you can take them to the refugee center. Why not take the plunge?
