If you’ve never experienced these, they are remarkable. Fabulous light weight, antique LINEN French smock! Gorgeous smock that has been hand dyed indigo blue. Any art lover will recognize these textiles from many 19th century French paintings. There is a fabulous decorative breast and collar decoration. There is a tiny claps at the top of the neck for closing. Lovely soft, crisp and springy texture!! Hand and machine stitched. Saturated indigo with some of the original glazing! There are openings on both lower side seams for the easy access of pockets that would have been worn under this shirt. Large and roomy fit, great as a tunic!! Wonderful indigo blue tone! These textiles were worn to protect the clothing of a man and were saved for special occasions and festivals! You will see them in 19th and 18th century French paintings!! Gorgeous for wearing or display! These wear with such style! CONDITION: I hand washed this gorgeous textile and it’s ready to wear! There is damage on the sleeves (please see photographs) there are some small holes dotted about. There are some stunning hand mends!! This textile is ideal for anyone looking for a textile with soulful signs of time and use really gorgeous but not suitable for anyone who requires a textile in perfect condition.
