Carre’ Professionally Framed & Matted (likely 1920’s to Mid Century) Water Front Scenes w/Boats from (Veere, Switzerland & Concarneau, France). Really neat Small/Medium sized water colorized etched prints by French Artist V. These feature two locations with waterfront settings. Both are signed by V. Carre’, one marked “Veere” (but looks like “Weere”), a small historic harbor town in Zeeland, Switzerland and the other “Concarneau” (France) in very nice professional frames & matting. Prints are likely from 1920’s to 1930’s and framed in US sometime later (maybe Mid Century or earlier). We found some background on V (Vincent) Carre’ after some hours of research and it is as follows. This information was from other sales and the provenance provided on those sales. Carre’ is famous for his etchings depicting scenes in France, Holland and Belgium. His wanderlust keeps him traveling in all corners of these countries in search of beautiful spots to serve as subjects for his fine etchings. It is evident he loves his art. This etching was made and signed by Carre’ in his studio near Paris. This was taken from a printed label on one of his prints and was dated as 1920’s. We also located one print with a label stating artist’s name as Vincent Carre’, but only one stating such. Almost all of the prints we could find from Carre’ had a similar style and coloring process and almost all noted them as Mid Century or older. Many of his works are not in the best shape, but ours are outstanding as shown in pictures. The frames are solid and nice with just a few nicks to gold paint. The backing could be removed of course to reset with tape, but we left it as is. We are offering these as a pair as it did not seem right to separate them after 70-80+ years or so together.
